Oreck XL Classic

We've had this vacuum for about four years now and it's awesome! Even though it was quite a bit more expensive than other vacuums, we decided to give the Oreck a try because it was such a simple design. The monstrous vacuums in the store have so many bells and whistles that it seems like they just break too often and are impossible to fix. But we figured that the Oreck was such a simple mechanism that if something broke it would be easy to diagnose and fix ourselves. So far, we've been right! It broke a belt one time, but an extra belt came with the vacuum when we bought it and my husband had no problem changing it. I am definitely happy we bought the vacuum. It is the most lightweight vacuum I have ever used and has a lot of suction power. It is absolutely effortless to push. The bags are huge and hardly ever need to be changed. So even though the vacuum is expensive, it's probably the only one that we'll need for decades.
