A Miele Vacuum Cleaner
The Mercedes-Benz of Vacuums

The Miele vacuum cleaner is the ultimate symbol of luxury in home cleaning products.  Elegant yet powerful, these models are available mostly in canister varieties with a few additional options for those who prefer to use an upright.  The brand sports several unique features, such as the Miele vacuum cleaner bag, which not only holds dust in, but uses a double-layer bag to keep it from escaping.

The company began their long-standing tradition of excellence in 1899 by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann in Germany.  Today they are an international brand and still going strong. While Miele vacuum cleaners tend to be pricier than their American counterparts, the 1200-watt engines and suction control make up for the higher price.

Take a look at the following models to get an idea of why the Miele is called the Mercedes-Benz of vacuums:

Miele Capricorn S5980 With Deluxe Power Brush:

This is the flagship of the Miele vacuum line.  Sleek and sophisticated, this canister model delivers power and efficiency in a pretty, lightweight package.  The 1200-watt motor is all the juice you'll need to clean your carpets and hard floors.  The HEPA filter eliminates 95.5% of dust and allergens from your carpet, while the completely sealed system and double-layer bag keeps it from seeping back into the air.

This model includes little extras that you wouldn't find on other brands such as wheels that turn in all directions, suction control on the handle, and an indicator to tell you it's time to change the bag.  It also includes a shut-off if your Miele begins to overheat.

Accessories Included:

Miele S5280 Callisto Galaxy Series Canister Vacuum Cleaner

The next level down in the Miele vacuum cleaner line is the Callisto.  Like the Capricorn, it uses a HEPA filtration system and includes the powerful 1200-watt motor with 7-year warranty.  Suction control is available via a rotary dial and it also includes a parquet floor brush, dusting brush, and nozzle crevice tool.

The Callisto cleans like the Capricorn and other high-end models, but without the bells and whistles. It's a good choice for someone who needs the power and versatility of a high-end vacuum without the high-end price.

Miele Powerhouse S184 Upright Vacuum Cleaner

For those who just can't give up their upright vacuum cleaners, this model delivers the high-quality engineering of  a canister in a less-expensive upright model.  It includes the same 1200-watt motor and a smooth floor switch to allow you the freedom to move from room to room without worrying about fumbling with a dial.

Another feature unique to this upright is the bypass system, which allows you to vacuum up debris without worrying about it passing through the motor.  This eliminates one of the largest problems you run into while using an upright vacuum.  Like the other models featured, the Powerhouse uses a HEPA filtration system.

The models featured here all use HEPA filtration, but Miele actually uses three different systems.  HEPA works for those with severe allergies or multiple pets, followed by a charcoal filter called Active Air Clean for those with pets, and Super Air Clean is for those with little or no allergies.

For a unique cleaning experience with a century-old company with a simple motto, Forever Better, a Miele vacuum cleaner is definitely worth investigating.
