Dyson Vacuum Cleaners
Helpful or Hype?

Dyson vacuum cleaners are one of the hottest vacuum cleaners on the market with their patented Cyclonic technology, a revolutionary idea that changed the way vacuum suction was created.

James Dyson, a United Kingdom native, invented the vacuum and its technology.  It took over 5 years and 5127 attempts before it hit the market. His first model sold in Japan for $2000!  Although still one of the mid-priced models, costs have decreased dramatically to make Dyson vacuum cleaners more widely affordable.

His current Root Cyclonic technology combines 8 air cyclones within the design that exert a centrifugal force 100,000 times the force of gravity to remove dust, dirt, allergens, pollen and other particles from the carpet.

8 upright models of Dyson vacuums are currently manufactured which include:

DC07 All Floors
Dyson DC07 Animal
DC14 Telescope Reach All Floors
DC14 Telescope Reach Animal
DC 15 The Ball
DC18 Dyson Slim All Floors
DC17 Absolute Animal
DC17 The Ball Animal

All upright models are bagless which eliminates the need for expensive or hard-to-find replacements.  They include a lifetime HEPA filter to remove dust and allergens, making them a wise choice for pet owners or those with asthma or allergies.  Their Animal models are exceptional at pet hair removal, making them a best buy for multiple pet households. While a powerhouse at pet hair removal, the DC17 Absolute Animal is the heaviest of the models, weighing in at just over 33 pounds. The DC 15 The Ball and DC 17 The Ball Animal offer unique manuverability due to the "ball" used for gliding across the floor.

One canister model, the DC21 Stowaway, and one handheld model, the DC16 Root 6, are also available.  The Stowaway offers onboard tool storage, a foot pedal brush control, and a cord that wraps for storage.  The handheld DC26 Root 6 is a hygienic option for small clean-up jobs.  It has a LED battery indicator and near a 5' reach with the charger attached.

Customer reviews of the Dyson models have been mostly positive.  Drawbacks reported include their size, weight, and on some models, the lack of onboard tool storage.

The main benefits of Dyson vacuum cleaners are their constant suction.  Consumers have also positively rated their extra long cord lengths, telescopic handles, and hose reach.  Their "Ball" models have also rated highly for ease of use and maneuverability.
