Dyson DC14 Telescoping Reach

Spent $485.00 each on two Dysons in fall of 2009, one a Dyson DC14 Telescoping Reach.
Bought two units as friend raved about theirs. Planned to use one at home and one at my office to replace Oreks that had reached end of their life (22 years and 25 years).
I was apprehensive when I opened the vac and assembled it and found it was all plastic, but the co worker who raved said to be patient.
Put it together and tested it against a loaner Orek and the Hoover canister vac from 1975 (I still own). Hoover is still the better vac.
Anyway, vac was used on carpet floor in office and vinyl in office. 4500 sq. feet vac on Fridays.
Spent more time washing down the outside of the vac from the dust after using it.
After three months, the brushbar stopped. We opened it expecting to change the belt and found that a cheap plastic piece had broken and that was why it wasn't turning.
Called Dyson support and was told because we opened the piece to change the belt that we had voided the warranty. So now sits a $485.00 vac that has to be trashed. I WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER DYSON AND THINK THE PRODUCT IS HORRIBLE AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. Nowhere in the instruction manual does it say do not open brushbar or the warranty is voided. In fact, page 12 of the manual shows and tells how to open and clean the brushbar for maintenance.
I am happy to scan the manual, warranty and picture of the vac for anyone interested.
I wish I had done some research and read reviews first. I would never buy another Dyson anything.
