Dyson DC07 All Floors

RAVE: I purchased the Dyson DC07 All Floors model because of the research I had done on the internet and the rave reviews I had read. I also have a variety of flooring in my home, from carpet to tile and linoleum, and we also have indoor cats and dogs. I needed a vacuum that was powerful enough to tackle the pet hair but gentle on the different types of flooring in our home.

I was reluctant to shell out the money, but our current vacuum was useless and I was tired of fighting with it. So, I took a gulp and a deep breath, got out my credit card and ordered from Amazon.com.

Well, when it arrived, I couldn't wait to get it out of the box and see if it lived up to all the hype I'd read. I had just vacuumed all the carpeted floors in my home the day before to see what the Dyson DC07 All Floors could really do.

Within 5 minutes, I knew it was worth every penny. The suction was so strong that it felt like a self-propelled vacuum. And then I chanced a look inside the canister...

All I could think was, "That junk was in our carpet!?!" And then I started to dry heave. The amount of dirt, gunk and grime was unbelievable! The canister was full in 5 minutes and I'd only finished our bedroom!

I was like a kid on Christmas playing with a brand new toy. I went from room to room, vacuuming away. When all was done, I'd emptied 12 canisters of dirt from my house. The Dyson was paying for itself in what I used to spend on bags for my old vacuum alone!

The more I use my Dyson vacuum, the more I love it. It's been two years and it still runs like new. The hose got clogged up once but it was a breeze to clear. It is so much better than any vacuum I've used before. The best features are the super long cord and hose extension. We have 9' ceilings and I can easily swipe away cobwebs and clean the stairs without breaking my back or standing on a chair anymore.

The only downsides to this vacuum are that I wish it was taller. I'm 5' 11' and my husband is 6' 4" (not that I can get him to vacuum much - OK not at all) and I do have to stoop a little bit. However, this has always been the case so I don't fault the Dyson for this. The other issue is that it isn't the best on area rugs or around curtains.

Yes, I found this out the hard way. It's not that it isn't good on these things - it works too well. The suction is so great that if you get too near the drapes, then in they go. Ditto for area rugs. I've found that holding down one corner of the area rug with my foot while I vacuum away from it prevents the Dyson from sucking it in.

The only other issue is that both my daughters and I have long hair and I will have to cut off the hair that gets wrapped around the roller every so often. But this issue happens with every vacuum I've ever used, so that's something that vacuum manufacturers are yet to solve. If anyone could do it, my money is on Dyson.

So, overall I give my Dyson DC07 All Floors 4.5 out of 5 stars. I'm hoping it continues to work this well for many years to come.
