Dyson DC05

We've had a Dyson DC05 for approximately five years now and I must say that I have a pretty mixed opinion about the quality of the product.
Dysons are not the cheapest vacuum cleaner on the market by far and when you purchase one you have pretty high expectations.
The main problem I have with ours is the suction power which isn't particularly strong any more. I have followed all the instructions on the Dyson product support pages but to no avail - the filters have been cleaned etc. etc. but still the suction power is poor.
Considering this is Dyson's unique selling point it's pretty disappointing. I'm really not sure what we can do at this point to improve the quality of the Dyson's performance and this would definitely affect my opinion about either buying one again in future or recommending the purchase of a Dyson to a friend or member of my family.
I think when we next come to buy a vacuum cleaner we will not buy Dyson again.
I'd love any advice from other Dyson users about what we could do to improve suction power as the vacuum cleaner at this points isn't performing properly nor picking up dirt as it should.
