From Handhelds to Uprights, a Model for all
Your Cleaning Needs
Dirt Devil vacuum cleaners became famous in the early 1980s when they introduced the Hand Vac, a small handheld vacuum cleaner that could quickly whisk away dirt from a specific area. It also was much easier to use than a larger vacuum for things like drapes and upholstery.
Over twenty years later, Dirt Devil vacuum cleaners have become the largest selling vacuum in the US. Their success with the HandVac allowed them to expand their line into other models such as uprights, canisters, stick vacuums, hard surface cleaners, and more. This versatility has allowed the company to remain an extremely powerful force in the market today.
Upright Vacuums
The Dirt Devil upright vacuum line is as unique as the person who buys one. With over 30 different models, you can easily find one to fit your needs and budget. Because of the low price tag, this model is a great starter for your first home, apartment, or college dorm room. Higher-end models are available for those who need more features and tools.
On-board cleaning tools are available in some upright models. They are available in bagged and bagless models with or without HEPA filtration. There are models available for those with smaller spaces to maneuver better than any other upright on the market today. Motors are available in a variety of sizes from seven to twelve-plus amps.
Handheld Vacuums
The handheld vacuums are the most popular in the line, and have undergone some recent updates and design changes to help them compete in today's market. While the HandVac is the most popular, the company teamed up with designer Karim Rasheed to create the KONE, a rechargeable model that doubles as a decorative item.
Dirt Devil vacuum cleaners are manufactured in over 20 models that come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, both corded and rechargeable. Many of the handheld models include a 3 amp motor and 3 year warranty for corded models, while 3.6 to seven volts is the standard for rechargeable models, which are also wall-mountable. Some come with tools you may expect to see on an upright vacuum, such as crevice tools and hoses. Shoulder straps are also available on other models.
Stick Vacuums
Stick Vacuums, also called broom vacuums, are the answer to any small job or not-so-dirty area that needs a quick touch-up. They are commonly used in the kitchen and on hard floors. They use a small plastic cup to collect dirt that is emptied after each use. The KRUZ is another decorative model designed by Karim Rasheed. Dirt Devil's newest invention, the Broom Vac, which is a combination broom/vacuum in one.
BroomVacs are rechargeable and don't use any bags. With the Broom Vac, you use it as a normal broom and the dirt is carried into the cup. Like all stick vacuums, they are best used for cleaning dry spills on hard floors.
Other Models
Dirt Devil also has a few canister models, which include power nozzles and HEPA filtration on some. This is a new area for Dirt Devil, and because canisters are not as popular in the US, they have chosen to focus on other areas.
The company has over 10 types of carpet cleaners available in handheld and upright models. The Spot Scrubber is extremely popular for hard to clean stains, while the Purpose for Pets addresses the needs to pet owners. Steam cleaners, extractors and shampooers are also available.
