Overall, I've found the Dirt Devil Reaction to be a solidly performing upright vacuum. The ads for the Reaction vacuum make a number of comparisons to Dyson vacuum technology. Having owned both, I feel that in terms of performance this vacuum really lives up to its name. It picks up everything in its path including dog hair and crumbs left by toddlers. The suction does not seem to decrease as it fills unlike more traditional vacuums. I think that my biggest problem with this vacuum has been how hard it is to clean the filter (the vacuum is sometimes described as filterless which is misleading). My favorite aspect of the Reaction is its cord. The rooms in my home are quite large and I hate having to move from outlet to outlet just to vacuum one room. With the 32 foot cord this isn't a problem for me anymore. I would also add to the list of potential problems the fact that this vacuum weighs quite a bit. In fact its working weight is 18 lbs and its hand weight is 23. So if carrying this load up stairs might be difficult for you, then this isn’t the vacuum you want.
